Welcome to the
DragonSlayer
For the past couple of months, you could hear the sounds of power tools, sanding and misplaced chisels (7 stitches...) coming from Mike's (the Bass Player) basement at all hours of the night.
Now, this work in progress can be displayed to the public.
Introducing the latest item in his arsenal - The DragonSlayer! Mike has constructed a double neck bass (ala Spinal Tap). The upper neck is a 5-string while the lower is an 8-string (standard 4 string with an octave string). The body is made of basswood to limit the weight, but with all the hardware it is still quite hefty! (After about half a set, he has to switch to his Ashbory - gotta hit the gym)
The 5 string neck uses Steinberger pickups and the 8-string utilizes Mexican Fender J-Bass pups. Both necks are wired similarly - Volume / Volume / Tone (passive) - with a switch for upper - off - lower neck selection. The beast is so big, he uses an 88-key keyboard case to lug it around.
